As stated throughout this website, the men and women of the JPSO can only do so
much to keep this parish safe. It
is imperative that we educate the citizens of the parish on how to reduce the
risk of their becoming victimized both at home and in public. Awareness and common sense are key.
Our Community Relations Section heads up a Crime Prevention Unit that helps
neighborhoods set up local Neighborhood Watch Programs. Currently, we are serving more than
70 groups. We provide neighborhood
signs, engraving equipment to mark personal property, and other crime fighting
and safety tips to those neighborhoods that meet our participation requirements.
